This is the one that started it. Bergamot and pepper straight out of the bottle, then ambroxan doing most of the work for the next several hours — clean, mineral, slightly abrasive in a way the later versions smoothed out. It is the freshest reading of Sauvage and the easiest to wear in heat, which is why it remains the default summer bottle for a very large number of men.
