Black Orchid opened Tom Ford's fragrance house in 2006 and has not been diluted since. Truffle and bitter orange at the top, a heavy floral heart, and a base of patchouli, vanilla and something close to dark chocolate. It is sweet, earthy and unapologetically loud, and it divides opinion in a way almost no other mainstream fragrance does. Worn by men and women in roughly equal measure. One spray carries a room.
